Defend the Marihangin 10 and Ka Ondo
Carcerality and Dispossession in Bugsuk [en]
For several years now, the Indigenous peoples and surrounding communities of Bugsuk in Southern Palawan have been at the forefront of combating luxury tourism projects by the San Miguel Corporation (SMC). In the latest episode, the people of Marihangin, Bugsuk, Palawan have been resisting the latest attack on their land that has been ongoing for several weeks now. SMC has repeatedly hired armed goons from the Jewelmer Corporation and JMV Security Services to invade and pillage land in sitio Marihangin for their nefarious project. SMC is aided and abetted by the Philippine National Police (PNP), the courts, and the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) in a holy alliance to steal the ancestral domains of the Molbog, Palaw’an, and Cagayanen peoples of Bugsuk. To this end, the State incarcerated and charged the Marihangin 10, leaders in the Marihangin community, on charges of “grave coercion” for defending their lands from the goons of former NCIP executive Caesar Ortega and the SMC’s own Ramon S. Ang.

A Collection of Essays [en]
This zine is a collection of essays I have submitted to Transit Dialog, a Facebook platform where people who write in English can have their pieces published. I would like to thank them for inspiring me to write freely (although there’s a length limit). I also thank the unnamed graphic artists who added life to my words by creating visuals.
Bandilang Itim
Whatever happened to Bandilang Itim?
An update on our efforts [en]
The so-called "Bandilang Itim Collective" has silently disbanded. Bandilang Itim has effectively been demoted from collective to distro. The people behind Bandilang Itim are still there and this distro is still operated by an affinity group, but this affinity group is no longer “Bandilang Itim Collective.”

“What you see, what you feel, what you hear; when you leave, leave it here.”
For many people who have participated in Reserve Officer Training Corps, this phrase is familiar, almost intimate. It is an oath to secrecy, as much as an oath can be rendered under duress. This golden rule, as it is called, is used to justify or at least defend abuse of power by those in power themselves. It is one thing to be security-minded, to protect the interests and safety of the group from those who seek to malign it. It is quite another to set aside their lived experiences and senses of morality, only to replace them with memories that are left behind in the designated office of the corps, or in the minds of those who have to deal with the consequences for time to come.
